The Teak Mushroom Stool is hand-carved by Indonesian craftspeople from teak root — turned and sculpted into a form that is immediately recognisable and yet entirely its own. A wide, gently domed cap sits atop a waisted stem that curves outward at the base, the whole silhouette as considered as any piece of studio furniture. The warm amber teak grain runs continuously through cap and stem, polished smooth where you sit and rich in colour throughout.

Because each stool is carved individually from a different piece of teak root, no two are identical. The grain pattern, the precise proportions of the cap, the character of the stem — all of it varies. What they share is the quality of the carving, the warmth of the material and a form that works as well as a low occasional seat as it does as a side table or plant stand. At 35cm wide and 45cm high it sits comfortably beside a sofa or at the end of a bed, and the smooth domed cap is as pleasing to the touch as it is to look at.
