The Medium Teak Root Bench begins, like its single-seat sibling, in the ground. The seat and backrest are carved from one continuous piece of solid teak root — not shaped into a bench so much as revealed as one, the natural form of the root doing most of the work. The irregular silhouette, the natural voids and fissures, the raw live edge that runs the full length of the piece: none of it was designed. All of it was found.

Mounted on four solid teak branch legs, the bench is as structurally sound as it is visually arresting. At 120cm wide it seats two comfortably — or one very comfortably indeed. It works in a garden or on a terrace, in a conservatory or entrance hall, as a statement piece at the foot of a bed or as a focal point in a living room. Teak’s natural oils make it weather-resistant and long-lasting, which means this bench will be part of your home for decades. A piece that no designer could have drawn, and no factory could have made.
